Guide
How to use a LUT in any editor.
Updated November 4, 2026
A LUT (look-up table) is a small file that remaps colors. A .cube file is the most common kind, and almost every editor can load one. Here's how to add a Filmsilk look in each app, and how to get the best result.
DaVinci Resolve
- On the Color page, right-click a node and choose LUT, then pick the file.
- To keep looks in Resolve's list: open Project Settings → Color Management → Open LUT Folder, copy the Filmsilk folder in, then click Update Lists.
- To lower the strength, reduce Key Output Gain on that node (in the Key palette).
Premiere Pro
- Open the Lumetri Color panel and expand Creative.
- In the Look menu choose Browse… and select the .cube file.
- Use Intensity to set the strength.
Final Cut Pro
- In the Effects browser, open Color and drag Custom LUT onto your clip.
- In the Inspector, open the LUT menu and choose Choose Custom LUT….
- Use the effect's Mix slider for strength.
CapCut (desktop)
- Select your clip and open Adjust → LUT.
- Click Import and choose the .cube file, then apply it.
Photoshop
- Choose Layer → New Adjustment Layer → Color Lookup.
- In 3DLUT File, choose Load 3D LUT… and pick the file.
- Lower the layer's opacity for strength.
Affinity Photo and other apps
In Affinity Photo, add a LUT adjustment and load the file. Any app that reads .cube 3D LUTs, including After Effects (Lumetri Color) and OBS, will work.
33-point or 65-point?
33-point files work everywhere and are what most editors expect. 65-point files are more precise and larger. Collection and Complete buyers can download either from their private page.
