How to export a LUT from Premiere Pro.
Updated November 6, 2026
In Adobe Premiere Pro, you can turn a finished Lumetri look into a reusable .cube with Export .cube from the Lumetri Color panel menu. Exact labels shift by version, so search Premiere Help for Export .cube rather than hunting for a Resolve Generate LUT button.
Before you export
- Finish (or isolate) the creative look on Rec.709 input. Convert log first if needed. See What is log footage?, Log vs Rec.709, and What is Rec.709?.
- Keep the look inside Lumetri Color. Export .cube typically includes Lumetri adjustments only.
- Remove temporary masks, tracking, and shot-specific fixes you do not want baked into every future clip.
- Know where the file will land so you can unzip / rename cleanly before sending it to a client or another app.
Step 1: Isolate the look in Lumetri
- Select the clip or adjustment layer that holds the look.
- Open Lumetri Color (Window → Lumetri Color).
- Keep technical log→Rec.709 conversion under Basic Correction → Input LUT (or color-manage log media) separate from the creative look under Creative → Look when you can, so the exported cube stays a creative Rec.709 look.
- A/B a bright exterior, a dark interior, and a face close-up before you export.
Step 2: Export the .cube
- Open the Lumetri Color panel menu (panel options / hamburger).
- Choose Export .cube (search Help for Export .cube if the label differs in your Premiere version).
- Save to a folder you control. Pick a lattice size if Premiere asks.
- Open the file in a text editor once: you should see a header such as
LUT_3D_SIZEand lines of three numbers. Truncated exports fail in other apps.
Step 3: Share, load, or skip the rebuild
- Load the exported .cube back in Premiere, or in Resolve, Final Cut, CapCut, OBS, and other hosts that accept .cube. Apply steps: Apply a LUT in Premiere Pro.
- Preview any .cube on your own still in the free LUT previewer (nothing uploads).
- Making a look from scratch is slower than picking a tested pack when you just need several Rec.709 options for client work. Role of each tool: LUT vs color grade. Building notes: How to make a LUT.
FAQ
Can Premiere Pro export a .cube LUT?
Yes. In Lumetri Color, open the panel menu (hamburger / panel options) and choose Export .cube. Only Lumetri adjustments on that clip or adjustment layer are included. Exact labels can shift slightly by Premiere version; search Help for Export .cube or Lumetri if the menu differs.
What does Premiere include in the export?
Premiere's Export .cube path typically bakes Lumetri Color adjustments. Effects outside Lumetri, nested sequences, and some third-party plugins may not be included. Isolate the look in Lumetri before you export.
What cube size should I export?
Use whatever Premiere offers in the export dialog (often 32 or 33-point class lattices depending on build). Prefer a size that loads in your destination apps. Very large cubes can fail on mobile editors.
Should I export a creative LUT from log footage?
Export the creative look after a log→Rec.709 conversion (or from a Rec.709 timeline). A cube baked on still-flat log input will not match display-referred delivery. See What is log footage?, What is Rec.709?, and Log vs Rec.709.
Why buy a ready pack instead of exporting every time?
Exporting your own look is useful for matching one show. A ready Rec.709 pack (like Filmsilk) is faster when you need several tested looks that already load in Resolve, CapCut, Final Cut, OBS, and Premiere without rebuilding Lumetri each time.
Where Filmsilk fits
If you need ready Rec.709 3D .cube looks that already load in Premiere and other editors—without rebuilding Lumetri for every job—try every Filmsilk look on your own frame first. The Collection is $29 one-time; Filmsilk Complete is $39 with Studio export when you want to tweak a look and save your own .cube without starting from a blank Lumetri stack.
Filmsilk
Ready Rec.709 .cube looks when exporting every Lumetri grade is too slow.
Filmsilk is 24 cinematic color looks for Rec.709 footage, in four reels: Soft Light, Golden Hour, Film, and Night & Mood. Try every one on your own frame in the free Fitting Room, then take the .cube files into Resolve, Premiere, Final Cut, CapCut, or Photoshop.
